Research Efforts Supported by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Part 1 of 2)

An accomplished financial professional and founder of FT Partners in San Francisco, Steve McLaughlin supports the work of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Thanks to the efforts of McLaughlin and other contributors, the National MS Society supports a wide range of research into many aspects of multiple sclerosis care and treatment.

During its early years in the 1940s, the National MS Society sponsored three research projects. Today, the organization stands as one of the most influential figures in the field of MS research. The national organization funds research activities in several stages, including translational research, early discovery research, therapeutic solutions research, and clinical trials.

Now, the National MS Society dedicates a significant portion of its resources to stopping the disease and developing MS therapies. In addition to better understanding the role of the immune system in the disease, research funded by the National MS Society attempts to enable all people afflicted with multiple sclerosis to receive the care and treatment they need.
